✶ EMBRACE THE EXTRAORDINARY. ✶

LABYRINTHINE is the pet project of one Bea Basa, who felt there was a gap in the Irish publication scene for something weirder. Emboldened by their love for horror and absurdism, they sought to create a platform for art that doesn't quite fit the categorical ordinary. The Irish arts scene, after all, was founded on a longstanding tradition of fantastical storytelling: from glorious and oft-bizarre myths of Celtic old, to high Gothic tales of spectral, monstrous, and transgressive uncanny. It is rife with potential, and Bea believes it's high time we embraced the extraordinary.

LABYRINTHINE is currently a digital-only publication that aims to release new issues biannually. While not financially viable in these budding stages, future issues may appear in print depending on ISSUE #001's success. This is, at its core, a passion project by an English graduate—and support of any kind is highly appreciated.

Above all, LABYRINTHINE prioritises accessibility, inclusivity, and equity. Our journal is all about embracing what's different; about how deviations from the "norm" should be celebrated, not shunned. Ireland boasts a vibrant, diverse community of creatives, and yet many feel they are underrepresented and marginalised even within the arts scene. As a queer and BIPOC-owned magazine, we truly believe everyone should have equal opportunity for publication. No matter your identity or background, your voice deserves to be heard.
